Volunteer-run playspace and community event space

Lilypad, formerly known as South Philly Parents resource Center, is a grassroots organization dedicated to supporting parents from pre-natal through early childhood by giving them a physical space to build community, make connections, bring children and babies under age 5 to play, and a thrift shop to both recycle and purchase items for babies and children up to age 12.

Our family-friendly community-building playspace, Lilypad is at 1234 S. Broad Street.

All are welcome to attend any of our playgroups; first visit free; thereafter membership is required ($100/year to attend unlimited playgroups). Our playgroups are hosted by a mix of volunteers and paid staff and offer unstructured times for kids to play and adults to relax, chat or play. Visit us on Facebook, for more.

Lilypad’s Board as of spring 2018 is comprised of six working volunteers. We meet monthly at Lilypad and are currently focusing on streamlining operations at Lilypad, and securing grants so that we can hire staff and offer more playgroups and family events. Two of our board members are now working as paid contractors now that we have opened CityKids Thrift! An additional contractor is working with us to host weekend playgroups

We are always looking for additional volunteers and board members. If you are interested in helping expand Lilypad’s vision to serve South Philly families, please join us! Our email is LAND AT LILYPADPHILLY.ORG

If you have questions about Lilypad, we aim to be as transparent and inclusive as possible, so please don’t hesitate to ask! Most of the board members run weekly playgroups.

Maria has been at Lilypad since its inception and volunteers her time on the backend with Lilypad and CityKids, design, marketing and some of the social media. She has hosted playgroups and run classes at Lilypad focusing on respectful parenting and RIE. She is currently our first employee at CityKids Thrift. Stop by to shop and say hi!

Sequoia is a whiz at organization and has been volunteering for Lilypad playgroups for many years. She is now a paid contractor helping out with space maintenance, logistics, membership and all around details of running Lilypad day-to-day. Stop by her Tuesday playgroups and look for new playgroups she will host as a paid contractor coming up in 2022.

Kelly is our first paid host. She has a young child and is a breath of fresh air -and ideas – for our space. See her at playgroups on Saturdays from 9-2.
